MMS - A Medical Supply Company was founded in 1970 under the name of Midwest Medical Supply Company, Inc. and focused on the acute care market. The company's goal of becoming the most customer-driven healthcare provider is as important today, as it was over forty years ago. Today, MMS's broad spectrum of healthcare supply chain solutions, operates under the name MMS, A Medical Supply Company.


1970
Company founded as Midwest Medical Supply, in St.Louis, Missouri, providing medical surgical products to local hospitals.


1996
The current owners purchased Midwest Medical Supply with locations in Missouri, Kansas and Guam.


2001
Added a distribution center in Houston, Texas


2002
Acquired Perigon Medical Supply, consisting of six locations. Began operating under the name of MMS - A Medical Supply Company


2003
Harris Hospital Supply, a major Chicago area distributor, was added to the MMS portfolio


2004
In response to a contract awarded by the state of Louisiana, MMS opened a distribution center in Baton Rouge


2006
MMS acquired the acute care and extended care divisions from Henry Schein Inc., doubling the size of the Company and adding immediate penetration into the Greater New York/New Jersey markets. This acquisition included a state-of-the-art 200,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Secaucus, New Jersey.


 
MMS was ranked the #96 largest privately held company in Missouri by The St. Louis Business Journal.


2007
Acquired Medical Innovations adding locations in Georgia and North Carolina.

MMS was ranked the #56 largest privately held company in Missouri by The St. Louis Business Journal.


2008
MMS ranked 15th Fastest Growing Private Company in St. Louis Area by The St. Louis Business Journal.

MMS was ranked the #50 largest privately held company in Missouri by The St. Louis Business Journal.


2009
MMS was ranked the #40 largest privately held company in Missouri by The St. Louis Business Journal.


2010
MMS remains one of the largest privately held regional distributor of healthcare supply chain solutions in the U.S.

MMS now has divisions dedicated to EMS, government facilities, home care, hospice, hospitals, industrial business, nursing homes, physician practices, redistribution, specialty products as well as a retail business.
